Director - Architect ETH/SIA
I am often asked, what architecture has to do with music reproduction? Music is a counterpart of architecture: It is weightless and volatile, architecture is heavy and constant. But they are mutually dependent, without space there is no music. Today we can store the music and keep it not only in our minds, so it becomes as constant as architecture. A new play between music and space takes place, also combined with video reproduction. My work is to design this play.
As an architect I worked on several projects like the renovation
of the ferry MS Berna
, or the Hostel Lago Lodge
. Since my studies at the ETH I learned beside my work as an architect a lot about acoustics and music reproduction, before I founded in 1997 the company Klangwerk on which I focused more and more my work. The first project was to develop exclusive loudspeakers
, later I added the planning of whole audio- video systems and the organisation of the exhibition Klangschloss
